Interoperability

Overview

Connecting siloed financial systems through shared standards and APIs

The interoperability gap

A user on Fintech A cannot pay a merchant on Fintech B without leaving their app, re-entering details, or paying cross-network fees. Each institution runs its own ledger, QR format, and KYC store. Interoperability closes that gap with shared protocols rather than bilateral deals—across currencies and corridors, not one region alone.

Three pillars

GoldRail approaches interoperability through three layers—each covered in this section:

PillarQuestion it answers
Abstraction layerHow do I integrate once and reach many rails?
RoutingHow does value find the cheapest/fastest path?
Identity layerHow do I recognise users and wallets across apps?

Shared QR convention

Payment requests across the ecosystem follow a shared QR convention so any compliant wallet can read institution and destination from a scan—without proprietary deep links per app. PayLink QR helps build and parse compliant payloads.

OpenConnect

OpenConnect maintains persistent wallet links between fintechs so users authorise once and transfer repeatedly. It complements multi-asset digital transfers—USDC, EURC, XOFC, and others—while identity and consent live off-chain and settlement runs through network products.
