Embedded finance
Integrating payments and wallets into non-financial products
What embedded finance means
Embedded finance places banking, lending, insurance, or payments inside a non-financial user journey—ride-hailing, e-commerce, SaaS, marketplaces. The end user stays in one app; a licensed partner or infrastructure provider handles regulated activity behind APIs, in whatever currency the product requires.
Common embedded patterns
| Pattern | Example | Infrastructure need |
|---|---|---|
| Branded wallets | Store balance in marketplace app | Wallet API + KYC |
| Instant checkout | Pay without leaving merchant site | On-ramp + payment capture |
| Seller payouts | Disburse earnings after sale | Off-ramp + ledger |
| Cross-app transfer | Send to friend on another fintech | Interoperability layer |
GoldRail targets embedded payments globally: Customers for identity, PayLink for ramp flows in USDC, EURC, XOFC, or other supported assets, and OpenConnect for wallet linking between fintechs.
Build vs partner
Building licensed payment capability in each market takes years. Embedding via API reduces time-to-market but requires clear liability boundaries—who holds funds, who performs KYC, who handles disputes.
